GED Testing and Verifications

Education Week recently reported that the GED is currently undergoing a massive change with the ultimate goal of preparing more test takers to move on to earn an associate's or a bachelor's degree. This new version of the test is scheduled to debut in 2014.

Academic leaders feel the GED should provide test takers with a pathway to college.  Under this new design, individuals would receive scores in two separate areas that would gauge not only how well their knowledge matches up to that of a high school graduate, but also how prepared they would be to enter college or a career.

Additionally, the GED redesign project would ultimately allow for the test to be taken on computers, as opposed to on paper. Students would also be given access to counseling services to help them plan their next academic moves.
